Apple has warned users of new spyware attacks aimed at journalists, activists, politicians, and diplomats. The attacks, dubbed mercenary spyware, can bypass built-in encryption and access private files, snoop on conversations, and track locations. Apple is notifying affected users to enable Lockdown Mode, a security feature that blocks most message attachments and link previews, restricts advanced web technologies, and disables certain features.
