Mercedes-AMG’s first ground-up SUV is a 1,150hp electric beast
The 2028 Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is a 1,153hp electric vehicle that out-muscles the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric and Lucid Gravity. It's the first ground-up SUV developed by Mercedes' AMG performance brand entirely in-house from the ground up. The vehicle will be available in three trims: GT 53, GT 55, and the flagship GT 63.
The AMG GT SUV features an 800-volt architecture, allowing for blistering-fast charging speeds up to 710kW on the 128kWh battery. The vehicle's battery utilizes F1-inspired technology with specialized cathodes and anodes, enabling continuous high-power delivery and long battery life.
The AMG GT SUV's AI-powered Predictive Performance Manager uses track-mapping data to dynamically throttle or boost electric motor output depending on topography, conserving battery energy on downhill or technical winding sections. This could lead to faster, more consistent overall lap times for high-performance track driving.
